I'm actually a fan of Christopher Hitchens. "Letters to a Young Contrarian" was fascinating. And he's dead on when it comes to the war. But, like most atheists, the guy just goes all bitchcakes when talking about religion.

Just because some categorize themselves as Jesusists, as you put it, doesn't make it so. A true follower of Christ is not expected to be perfect and can make mistakes. God allows mistakes by showing mercy and grace. However, God has little patience for those who claim to be followers of Christ yet continuosly operate in stark contrast to His and the apostles teachings. Unfortunately, many non-Christians and atheists stereotype and lump all Believers into the same mold. This would be like defining all Mohamedists (Muslims) by the actions of the Islamic terrorists. Christians are the only demographic group in this country that are not embraced by the "Celebrate Diversity" crowd and that's a fact. You just need to be able to recognize the difference between the true members of "THE WAY" and the posers.
